SHIRLEY ON SPIN'S PLAYSTATION ARTICLE
There's a "new" Shirley pic
on the latest Spin magazine, on an article regarding the Playstation Amplitude game soundtrack. This soundtrack features Cherry Lips. This article says the following on the song:
"How do you describe Garbage anyway? Pop-rock?
Lite-industrial? Alternative? Neo-Punk? On "Cherry Lips"
at least, Shirley Manson shows her poppiest of pop licks on what
is certainly a standout track from Beautiful Garbage. Maybe a
little too poppy for those of you who like the band because of
Butch Vig (or indeed Ms Manson's fashion sense), it has an
infectious quality that will have you singing along in no
time." (you can see the full pic on gallery 4)

SHIRLEY #10: MISSMINX'S 100 ROCK WOMEN
Shirley got the #10 position on the 100 Women in Rock poll of the alternative UK site MissMinx. #1 position for Brody Armstrong (The Distillers), #2 for Karen O (Yeah Yeah Yeahs), #3 for Sleater-Kinney, #4 for The Donnas, #7 for Gwen Stefani (No Doubt), #8 for PJ Harvey, amongst others.
"The Nineties saw a lot of female singers take the limelight, but none were more striking and memorable that Shirley Manson, fronting Garbage. Now a new decade is upon us, and Shirley is still a spokesperson for females in rock, recently completing a tour of the US with No Doubt and The Distillers. Though her trademark red hair is something of the past, Shirley most definitely is here to stay!"

SHIRLEY, YOUR FASHION SENSE IS GARBAGE
Garbage singer Shirley Manson rubbed shoulders with the stars, including Blondie's Debbie Harry, at a charity do in New York.
The pair have become friends since appearing in a photo shoot for Vanity Fair last year.
But the prospect of a celebrity-studded affair didn't impinge on Shirley's fashion sense. A self confessed sufferer of body dysmorphic syndrome, or imagined ugliness, she hung out at the benefit for the McAuley Psychiatric Treatment Centre in a head-scaf, parka and woolly scarf - a style trend 192 hopes doesn't catch on.

MARY J BLIGE & SHIRLEY MANSON: IT TAKES
2
Musician/activists discuss how AIDS and
HIV infection still impact an incredible amount of lives. Both
agree that no shag is worth a death sentence.
They're two of our most iconic singers. Mary J. and Shirley sat
down with VH1 to discuss learning to love yourself, kids who
look to them for advice, and why there will never be a shag good
enough to risk your life for.

SHIRLEY AT 'NIGHT WITH JT LEROY &
FRIENDS'
"It is rare to be amongst such
collective beauty," gushed slightly delirious host Winona
Ryder Thursday at Index Magazine's Night With JT LeRoy
and Friends, a tribute to the 23-year-old gay "It boy"
's literary and celebrity status (Winona called him "the
beautiful JT," while Garbage's Shirley Manson wryly
designated JT "our little genius"). Manson, Debbie
Harry, Vanessa Carlton, Rosario Dawson, and Tatum O'Neal, among
others, read from LeRoy's eccentric lot-lizard confessional Sarah
[book]."
This book will become a movie by the hand of Gus Van Sant. JT
LeRoy wants Shirley to play his mother, but castings are being
made for the film.
Manson has formed a close bond with Leroy and has even written a
song about him, called Cherry Lips. In JT's first book, Sarah's
son goes by the name of Cherry Vanilla. A twelve-year-old boy
based on Leroy's childhood self, he has a penchant for hotpants
and make-up.
