GARBAGE TO WORK ON 4TH ALBUM
According to Shirley's tour diaries, Garbage will begin working on a new album in January 2003: "Walked around Brisbane a little but felt drained of energy and unenthused so I returned to my room and listened to some of the results of our week long writing session a couple of weeks ago and found some interesting ideas to build upon for the next record which we will begin working on in earnest sometime in January of next
year."

SHIRLEY MAKES PEACES WITH CHAD KROEGER
According to Shirley's tour diaries, she bumped into Nickleback's Chad
Kroeger in her latest trip to Australia: "Well blow me, but did I not turn around idly to survey the line behind me and who should be glaring straight at me but yes you've guessed it.....Chad Kroeger!!
I had to grin.It was all I could do.....and kudos to him......he grinned back.
So not only is he in possesion of a really good sense of humour but later on,as we found ourselves sitting in very close proximity to one another, he bequeathed me the most fabulous sleeping pills which really did bring some relief and comfort on an otherwise insufferable flight to LA.
I thereby most solemnly do declare that I have made my peace with Mr Kroeger. He's alright."

VANITY FAIR COVER
It took five backbreaking months to bring VF's dazzling
November issue to fruition, but it is finally here and it is
something to see.
Sharing cover space with Gwen Stefani and Jennifer Lopez are
Sheryl Crow, Alicia Keys, Eve, Nelly Furtado, Norah Jones.
Shirley Manson, living legend Debbie Harry and for the ladies,
Barry White. This is possibly the hottest group photo that has
appeared on VF's cover. (see

SHIRLEY SAYS ON CHRISTINA'S NEW VIDEO Here's
what Shirley said (on her tour diary) on Christina Aguilera's
latest video: "Cheered myself up by watching the new
Christina Aguilera video on the net and it was everything I
could ever hope it would be.(Totally and utterly icky.) And I
should erect a statue to whoever it was who had the grand idea
of putting her in such an outfit that even a stripper would
disregard from her wardrobe on the grounds that it looked
"too cheap".Hooray hooray.....oh life can be so
glorious sometimes!!!!"

BUTCH VIG BACK ON DRUMS AGAIN Butch
Vig is back on drums! He played the Australian M-One concert
with his mates (see
pics here). Here's what he had to say on the official
Message Board:
"Well, we rocked Brisbane last night. It was my first show
since San Fransisco...and even though I was a bit rusty, it felt
DAMN good to be playing with my mates again! The crowd seemed
kind of mellow, but most of them had been standing on the field
since noon, and we went on a half hour late due to Billy Idol's
technical problems. It's been pretty fantastic hanging out here...the
vibe is good, the weather is fantastic, and our AUSSIE fans are
really enthusiastic!
Off to Sydney tonight for dinner with the record company.
Oh yeah, we we're cranking the Yeah Yeah Yeahs before the gig
last night and it is SUCH a breath of fresh air! We couldn't
help notice that Shirl is the only woman in another male
dominated festival...
She wore a pink tutu, by the way.
C'mon grrls, pick up a guitar and make some noise!
BV"

VERSION 2.0 ON ROLLING STONE CHART
(#92) The reader's choice for the 100 greatest CDs of all time has Version 2.0 in the #92
spot. The Rolling Stone issue has a small picture of the CD and quotes
from Shirley "I'm no great beauty, I'm no great intellect." It also says that "Some of the songs were mixed down from more than 100 tracks - that happens when a band includes three former producers" and then they say the essential track is "I Think I'm Paranoid" and concludes with a Chart Peak
(#13) and Sales (1 Million). (thanks to gwenfan4life)
