US DATES WITH NO DOUBT?
June 27th

Garbage may join No Doubt on their US tour as an opening act. According to Shirley: "Gwen Steffani and I also loosely discussed the possibility of Garbage opening some dates for ND later on this year.I mean........ I really respect that No Doubt do their own thing and stand out from all the other bands out there right now. I think our fans (and vice versa ) would be well into the pairing. We'll just have to wait and see if it all pans out but I think ND and Garbage would make a great bill."

GARBAGE WITH ELTON JOHN
June 27th

Garbage spent the afternoon of June 19th with one of the most important pop icons of all time. Shirley wrote on her diary: "Woke up,got dressed, got picked up in a chaffeur driven car and taken to Elton John's villa
in the hills overlooking the stunning vista of Nice.Enjoyed the most delicious lunch whilst
supping on champagne and pink wine and spent the next 4 hours or so lounging under the sun whilst listening to the aforementioned icon tell insanely great stories about working with people like John Lennon,Tina Turner and Eminem or what it was like to dance with the Queen Mother of England!!! COuld have happily spent the entire evening there but we had a show to do so after reluctantly saying our goodbyes we then drove back down the hill and stepped on stage to open up for The Red Hot Chilli Peppers!!!!
How fucking intense is that for a day in the life of a rock diva?!?!?!?!?!
ha ha ha ha.....it was pure magic."

SANTANA ON "BEAUTIFUL" GARBAGE
June 27th

Garbage played at the Heiniken Jammin' festival in Imola, Italy on June 16th.
JT LeRoy, inspiration for Cherry Lips was in the audience wich has a complete turn on to Shirley. According to her, "The other notable event of the day was when Duke ran into Carlos Santana backstage after our show (He was headlining the festival) and Carlos commented that he thought our show was
"beautiful"!!!
You are very kind Carlos and our show is many things....but beautiful!?!? I think not."

ALICE NUTTER ON SHIRLEY
June 27th

Chumbawamba's Alice Nutter said about Shirley: "I saw her recently on the Jools Holland show actually. The thing about Garbage is that she’s supposed be this vixen fronting a wild band but they just look like a load of boring old men… and it all hinges on her. She looks great and has a great voice but it doesn’t always work and I think they’ve got too much of a formula. The first Garbage album I thought was great but then every other Garbage album was just another Garbage album. Then there’s all that whole thing about “I’m a bad girl! I hate myself!” and how many different ways of saying it (laughs)."
This came after Shirley labelling Tubthumping, the band's hit, as a curse on humanity and then singling Chumbawamba's Lou out as being the worst singer in the world.

NICKELBACK VS SHIRLEY MANSON
June 24th

Chad Kroeger, frontman of Nickelback, when asked "Now that you're famous, who would you like to squash like a bug?", aptly replied "Shirley Manson of Garbage!".
This feeling started a month ago when Shirley said in her tour diary that "Why on earth has Seal not sued Nickleback for their copyright infringement of the big hit "Kiss from a Rose" that he had on the Batman soundtrack a few years ago? I mean....... Nickleback's song for the Spiderman movie is an insanely close rip off.The choruses of both songs are almost EXACTLY the same. Oh have those movie companies no bloody shame?!?!?!??!"
The song is "Hero" by Chad Kroeger (of Nickelback) featuring Josey Scott (of Saliva), from the Spider-Man Soundtrack.

SHIRLEY ON THE MADRID SHOW
June 23rd

On the day after of the Madrid show, Shirley wrote: "Oh my god......the show in Madrid last night was outlandishly OUTSTANDING!!!!!! The crowd went berserk and refused to leave the venue even after we played an encore of three songs. They stayed exactly where they were when the house lights came on and made such a racket.....shouting and cheering and chanting that we finally relented, coming back nearly 10 full minutes after leaving the stage by which time half our gear had been torn down by our crew.So not having any choice but to improvise,we threw down into an accoustic version of Queer, relying on the crowd to provide the accompaniment by their chanting of the "doo doo doo" part and I swear it sounded fucking incredible!!! "

WE'RE A HAPPY FAMILY (RAMONES)
June 21st

The Ramones tribute album is now titled. The name of the compilation will be "We're a Happy Family", and will be released on September 17.
According to Rob Zombie, the head of the project, "only the cream of the crop will make the final cut". Garbage are one of them. "The scope of the Ramones record has really grown," he said. "We always wanted it to be really special, but it turned into these superstars wanting to get on the record, which is fine. I mean, that's really the point we wanted to prove — these huge megabands were influenced by the Ramones. I think Kurt Loder said at one point when Joey died [last year], 'You can't judge the value of a band by record sales.' "
