This magazine has Nine Inch Nails's Trent Reznor on the cover.

4. The Strokes

6. DMX
7. Groove Armada
8. Gorillaz
9. Weezer

MORE EUROPEAN DATES

A big venue European Garbage tour will start in February, after the Japanese dates. No dates have been set yet, though Garbage's record label revealed plans are being made. The February leg of the tour will apparently see Garbage playing in Germany and France, that's all that's been revealed.

CAMPAIGN AGAINST AIDS

Shirley along with Sir Elton John and Mary J. Blige have been named the 2002 spokespeople for Mac's Viva Glam IV fundraising lipstick. An advertising campaign shot by photographer David LaChapelle will launch in February 2002. Since its creation in 1994, VIVA GLAM lipsticks have been the primary fund-raising tool for The M•A•C AIDS Fund. To date, the M•A•C AIDS Fund has raised more than $23 million in order to provide daily services for men, women and children affected by HIV/AIDS around the world. One hundred percent of the $14.00 suggested retail price of the lipsticks go directly to the Fund.
Quoting Shirley: "life has been so good to me and I believe it is time for me to repay some of the good karma that was sent my way and spread it elsewhere.

SHIRLEY WITH VOICE PROBLEMS

Shirley is getting freaked out by the fact that she's having a hard time singing. She's having severe problems with her voice, so she went to her throat specialist, and got some pills to try. Garbage are enjoying the holidays for three weeks, so there is plenty time to recover.

VH-1 BEHIND THE MUSIC

Garbage got interviewed for the VH-1 special "Behind The Music". Although the interview went smoothly, the band is afraid to disapoint, as they don't have any "Behind Tee Music" type of scandals to report.
According to Shirley, "they're going to have a hard time finding anything really scandalous to report. I mean (touch wood) we've had no real DRAMA in our career in the "Behind the Music" sense. Not one of us has ever become addicted to drugs, alchohol, sex, food, pornography, prostitutes gambling or fighting. We've never been embroiled in political intrigue, heavy law- suits or name-calling. We've never trashed our rooms, thrown telly's out of windows or abused hotel staff. Never been hauled out into the tabloids and had every inch of our lives violated and desecrated by a probing camera lense. We've never had any of our personal home-made porno videos stolen from our homes, never dated famous musicians, super models or actors. Never been in a lunatic asylum, rehab or trouble with the police unless you count the multiple speeding tickets that Duke accumulated over the last year.
What on earth is VHI thinking by doing a Behind the Music on Garbage?!?!?!?!?!? We're sure to disappoint".

DARIA MOVIE THEME

Garbage are the lucky performers of the theme for the new Daria movie. Daria is based on MTV cartoons.
"Breaking Up The Girl" is the song chosen, and the music video has been made, but it's not know when it will be out.
This song already has a promo CD single on the US, and "Shut Your Mouth is" at #10 on Montreal's CHOM FM.

TONIGHT SHOW WITH JAY LENO

Garbage were the musical guests on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, on December 12th. Butch is back behing the drums! They performed "Breaking Up The Girl", the new US single. The band performed and left, not being interview by Leno this time.

BAND SIGNING @ VIRGIN

Garbage will do a signing at Virgin Megastore, LA. This will happen on December 14th. The band will be signing copies of beautifulgarbage at the Virgin Megastore in Los Angeles, 8000 Sunset on Friday, December 14th at 6:30PM.

SHIRLEY INTERVIEWS PINK

Shirley interviewed singer Pink to this month's edition of the magazine Interview. Here's what Shirley said about Pink afterwards: "Finally got around to listening to the the new PINK cd on the airplane and felt waves of pride wash over me. I love that girl I swear to god! She deserves to be massive because she's got more guts and balls and energy and soul than all her other boring contemporaries put together."

SHIRLEY ON GEORGE HARRISON

Shirley shows condolences on the ex-Beatle, died recently: "Still can't quite shake my blues from yesterday though... hearing of the death of George Harrison sent me reeling.I kept having awful little moments of sadness about it all day.He was just such a prince."

NEW VIDEO HAS BEEN SHOT

On December 5th and 6th, Garbage spent their days shooting a new video in America. The chosen song isn't know yet, but it's problably gonna be "Breaking Up The Girl" or a new "Cherry Lips (Go Baby Go!)" version for the US audience. The video is being directed by Mr Francis Lawrence. Shirley "liked him immediately. He sort of looks like a more beautiful Kid Rock and has a laid back demeanour to match."

GARBAGE IN EUROPE!

According to the official Roskilde Site, Garbage and Red Hot Chilli Peppers are confirmed to play this festival in Denmark. You can check the 2002 section here. This is not the first time Garbage are on this festival. They headlined the 1998 one, on June 26th.
This is great news, as it means Garbage are in Europe during the Summer, and they might run the major european festivals!

2 NEW SOLO DATES IN AUSTRALIA

Two solo dates have been added amidst the band's performance on the Big Day Out appearance in Australia. The new dates are January 22nd at Sydney's Horden and January 29th at Melbourne's Metro. Tickets are on sale for $58 or so, from Monday, December 10, on the usual outlets.
If you pay attention, Australia was the first country to give beautifulgarbage a #1. With Version 2.0, UK also gave it a #1, and that's where that tour started.
